A new era is dawning
on business education at Clemson University. Beginning July 1, for the
first time in its 127-year history, Clemson University’s business
disciplines will stand on their own, a change leaders say will enhance
the academic unit’s reputation nationally. “Clemson means business today
more than ever,” said Bobby McCormick, business school dean.

Two
longtime leaders have been named to term appointments in Clemson’s new
College of Business and College of Behavioral, Social and Health
Sciences.
Bobby McCormick has been named dean of the new College of Business and
Brett Wright has been appointed dean of the College of Behavioral,
Social and Health Sciences, which begin operation July 1.

Sarah
Winslow, associate professor of sociology and anthropology, has been
appointed director of Clemson’s premier undergraduate scholarship
program, the National Scholars Program.

An
employee's ability to develop "soft skills" is becoming increasingly
important to 21st century business. Gail DePriest of Clemson's MBA
program talks about the significance of those employee skills
in a column she wrote for the Upstate Business Journal.

Business
1010 is a win-win – for students and the community. In the 2015-16
school year, approximately 900 students in the business school
introductory class were assigned to volunteer six hours of their time to
a community event or organization. The assignment resulted in nearly
5,500 hours of volunteer service to the community.

Meredith
Ellis has proactively positioned herself for success during her first
two years at Clemson University. And in the process, the Charlotte,
N.C., honors student is making certain doors remain open for whatever
career path she chooses.

The
Barker Scholars Endowment was established in 2013 to honor Clemson’s
14th president, James F. Barker. The endowment, which provides
need-based scholarships for undergraduate students, has made a
difference in the life of Jarrett Miller ’17 — a student who always had
his heart set on Tigertown and fortunately, has not had to put his
college plans on hold.

Brad
Cohen views the Graphic Communications course, GC3400 as a game changer
in his academic journey at Clemson University. The videography course,
taught by lecturer Erica Walker, opened Brad’s eyes to a career in
graphic communications he never would have considered until he stepped
into the Godfrey Hall studio class this past spring semester.

Chris
Harrigan is a free-spirited entrepreneur who aims to raise the bar on
the quality of alcoholic drinks. An MBA graduate of Clemson
University, Harrigan has launched “Beyond Barrels™,” a business that
enables the aging of spirits to continue at home what was started in the
distilling process.

Like
many of their American counterparts, Russian citizens also hide their
earnings to avoid the tax man, according to research conducted by a
Clemson University economist. That research recently received national
recognition by a Russian consortium of highly regarded public policy and
economics organizations.

child, according to research by business school professors at Clemson
University.
