last week's Startup Weekend to our Tiger Ties Mentorship Program and
distinguished guest speakers, our educational opportunities extend well
beyond the traditional classroom. And now the college is launching
another innovative learning experience and taking it campus wide — the
entrepreneurship living-learning community.

Clemson
University is celebrating Military Appreciation Week by hosting a
series of events from Monday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 21. The week
is intended to recognize Clemson’s rich tradition of military
excellence, dating back to its founding as a military school, and to
honor the 10,000 plus Clemson men and women that have served in the
armed forces.

Sociology
professor Catherine Mobley is part of a team of top academic
researchers from across the country that will be participating in a
National Science Foundation-sponsored project. This important project
will examine the educational experiences of military veterans seeking
college degrees in engineering.

Tom
and Karen Chapman recently received the Philanthropist of the Year
award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater
Atlanta Chapter at the 2014 National Philanthropy Day Luncheon.

On
Friday, October 24 the Clemson Young Alumni Council recognized ten
individuals for their impact in business, leadership, community,
educational and philanthropic endeavors.

As
part of a Creative Inquiry course, team-taught by anthropology
professor Mike Coggeshall and English professor Meredith
McCarroll, students will premier their video productions based on
the Soapstone Baptist Church Monthly Fish Fry. Screenings will run
continuously from noon until 3 p.m. Fish fry will be served from noon - 8
p.m.

University. In addition to his primary focus on cultural
sociology, stratification, and elites, he also writes in the areas of
gender theory, deliberative politics, and research methodology.

special talk by renowned Germany expert, Dr. Eric Langenbacher
(Department of Government, Georgetown University), to discuss the
context, details, and implications surrounding this momentous historical
event. Presented by the Department of Political Science and the
Department of Languages.
