and faculty and research highlights, we seek to keep you engaged
with the latest happenings around the College of Business and Behavioral
Science. One of our most exciting endeavors is the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative we’re planning that will be uniquely Clemson.

Clemson
University President James Clements and the College of Business and
Behavioral Science invite you to an evening with one of today’s leading
investment authorities and commentator for CNBC and The Wall St.
Journal, Clifford S. Asness, Ph.D., founder, managing principal
and CIO of AQR Capital Management. The panel will include Clemson's own
specialists in the fields of politics and economics, Jeffrey Fine,
Ph.D., and Scott Baier, Ph.D.

The
Clemson Institute for the Study of Capitalism has announced the Lyceum
Scholars Program, through which accepted freshman will receive an annual
scholarship of $2,500 toward tuition, renewable for up to four years
for a total of $10,000.

The
Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership has joined with the
Institute for Economic Development, Clemson’s College of Business and
Behavioral Science and the Office of Economic Development to announce a
collaborative alliance to advance the Technology Villages program.
|

Meet
Fred Turner, a World War II veteran who served his country during the
1940s. Cadets from Army and Air Force ROTC programs worked with members
of the Purple Heart Homes, who are veterans themselves, to fix up Mr.
Turner’s home. Cadets were able to talk with and learn from veterans of
multiple generations while giving back.

More
than 45 competitors stepped into the ring to compete in the first Spiro
Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership Pitch Smackdown. Presenters
pitched their business ideas in three minutes or less using three
PowerPoint slides to illustrate their business concepts.

Clemson University economics Ph.D. candidate Anna Chorniy attended the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting on Economics Sciences
this past August in Lindau, Germany. Chorniy was selected as Clemson
University’s nominee for the 2014 meeting, the first Clemson student to
be invited and participate as a young researcher by the Lindau Review
Panel.

Creative
Inquiry project takes a look at one of Clemson’s most prominent
traditions, prized by graduating seniors and alumni for over a century:
the Clemson ring.

Thomas
Hazlett, economics professor and director of the Information Economy
Project at Clemson University, participated in an FCC panel on the
“Economics of Broadband: Market Successes and Market Failures.” Hazlett
conducts research in law and economy, specializing in the Information
Economy.

|
Clemson
marketing alumna Anitra Mitchell and her mom, Charlotte Parris, have
more than doubled their annual sales since opening their boutique
storefront in 2012.
|
|
|
|
|
Pickett’s
new role includes oversight of the college’s communications, academic
affairs, research, business affairs and special projects, and has him
working alongside Interim Dean Robert McCormick.

Professor
Robert Sinclair was recognized recently with Clemson’s Graduate Student
Excellence in Mentoring Award. Given by graduate students, the award
recognizes faculty or staff who mentor or advise students through the
rigors of graduate school.

This
event gives audiences an understanding of U.S.-China relations as well
as the effect of China’s rise on our own communities. Feature former
U.S. President Jimmy Carter (via Webcast) and Scott Lincicome,
international trade counsel with White & Case.
