This collection consists of the personal papers of Russell E. Dickenson. They document his long career as an employee of the National Park Service, especially his tenure as the Director of the National Park Service from May 1980 to March 1985. The final series covers his career after he retired from the NPS.

Russell E. Dickenson donated his papers to Clemson University in October 1985. There are no restrictions on the use of this collection beyond those of Special Collections.
