A NOTE FROM THE VP

Welcome to the start of the 2017–18 academic year! We have much to be proud of, as you’ll find throughout this newsletter. It is our hope that this initiative will serve as a monthly update on all the latest happenings in the Division of Student Affairs.
It is an exciting time at Clemson University. Just recently, the Princeton Review unveiled its 2018 national rankings and Clemson was in the top 10 of eight different categories. Student Affairs has had a direct impact on several of those high marks, including the top spot in career services for the second time in the last three years. I want to thank everyone who has played a role in the success of our division.
I want to also extend a personal welcome to all the new staff members within the division. You’ll quickly find it is the good people behind the scenes that help us prepare our students to make a difference in the local community and beyond. Please refer to our home page for additional resources to help make your transition a smooth one.
Please make note of the Kick-Off Clemson schedule below. I hope to see many of you at the Unity Block Party as we ring in the new school year. Unity is especially important in light of the recent tragedy at the University of Virginia. Racism, white supremacy, hatred, bigotry and violence have no place in our country. We stand united with our student leaders and with so many universities across the country during this time, and will continue our very best to foster a safe and welcoming environment for all.

UPCOMING EVENT
|
On Wednesday, Aug. 30, we begin a series entitled “Conversations Over Coffee.” It is open to all division staff, and the first event will be held that morning at 8:30 a.m. in the Hendrix Student Center, Meeting Room A. Vice President for Student Affairs Almeda Jacks will be available to answer any questions you may have, and to welcome the many new faces we have in the division to our wonderful team. We encourage you to drop by in that hour for coffee and refreshments as well.
