  It's FAFSA Time
Financial aid is an annual process, and the deadline to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2013–14 is approaching. For continuing students, the FAFSA deadline is April 1, 2013. Parents and students can simplify the application process by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. When completing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov, the online application allows you to extract your 2012 income and tax information directly from the IRS. This reduces the number of questions you have to answer and decreases your likelihood of being selected for Verification (i.e., a FAFSA audit). The IRS Data Retrieval Tool is available approximately seven–10 days after e-filing, so plan to complete your taxes early. For more information about the financial aid process, please see www.clemson.edu/finaid.

Stay Healthy in the New Year

Each year brings new goals and new challenges, which can cause stress. Exercise is a great way to work off stress and stay fit. Be sure your student knows about the hundreds of options available through Clemson's Campus Recreation. For instance, the Fike Recreation Center offers a wide variety of facilities, including a strength and cardiovascular equipment area, six multi-use gymnasiums, an aerobics room, racquetball and squash courts, a climbing wall, an indoor running track and sand volleyball courts. To play on team sports without intercollegiate athletic pressures, your student could check out Clemson's many intramural programs.
