Dear Clemson families,

It is hard to believe that it has already been a month since your students moved in and already so much has happened. A few of the highlights of the past month have been the First Friday Parade, multiple Solid Orange Fridays, great Tiger football, busy academic schedules, and lastly the largest number of families ever at Fall Family Weekend!

Although so much has passed by already, there is still so much to look forward to. Before we know it fall break will be here and the excitement will approach for Homecoming, Tigerama and many other exciting events. Although it is an exciting time, it is also when classes start having exams, projects and papers due, etc. It is during this time that the weather begins to change and the initial excitement of being on campus begins to subside. It is also when students tend to miss home a little more than usual.

Some helpful things to do from home is to remind your students to make the most of the weeks prior to this break and hit the Academic Success Center to study for midterms. Try to set reasonable expectations for midterms, so your student doesn’t feel additional stress. Remind them of resources they can use if they need the help. Now that they have gotten into a rhythm, help them to think about how they plan to leave their mark on Clemson and what they need to do in order to make that change. If they are struggling, remind them about our Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) — they are a great resource for extra support.

For more helpful tips on living an overall healthy experience on campus, check out our second edition of our Tiger Cub 411. These are stories being shared by current students, just for parents and families. Check it out here!

GO TIGERS!
