Clemson Family,

Here at Clemson, autumn is a special time when we really feel "something in these hills." The leaves start to change color, new routines are now familiar and our alumni and friends are welcomed home to celebrate Homecoming. Learn more about this weekend's scheduled Homecoming events, including the 60th anniversary of Tigerama.

As the semester progresses, we encourage you to keep the lines of communication open. Ask questions about your student's day-to-day activities, their eating, sleeping and exercise habits, and exactly how challenging their classes are this semester.

While your student may be at school, Clemson is never too far away to be involved. Whether you're invested in our athletics or curious about our academic programs, you can stay informed by following our successes amid the best of the best in colleges and universities.

As always, we are here to help! If you have any questions along the way, feel free to email us at cufamilies@clemson.edu or call the office of New Student and Family Programs at 864-656-0515.

Multicultural Center Open House
The Harvey and Lucinda Gantt Multicultural Center had the pleasure of hosting the campus community on Monday Sept. 19 during an Open House. This event gave students, faculty, staff and Clemson visitors the opportunity to tour the new location in Suite 300 of Brackett Hall. Please visit the Gantt Multicultural Center's website to learn more about their new offices and the many resources available for students.

Rock the Vote
We encourage all citizens to support our democratic system by voting in the upcoming election. Your student may be returning home to vote during Fall Break, which coincides with Election Day 2016. Remind your student to take the required steps to request an absentee ballot, if necessary.

Semester Academic Calendar
You can always find the semester academic calendar quickly on the Clemson website. All student breaks are listed to make it easier for your family to make plans in advance. Visit Academic Calendar by Term. Find the semester you want to review and select Full Term.

Spring UPIC Internships
Positions will begin appearing in ClemsonJobLink starting in mid-to-late October. Clemson students — first year and beyond, including transfer students — who have completed one semester of classes are eligible to apply for spring UPIC positions. UPIC is our paid, on-campus internship program where students take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it in over 300 areas of campus. We invite students to come to the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) during our drop-in hours, Monday through Friday, 1:30–4 p.m., to learn more about the UPIC program.

Shuttles for Student Break Travel
Shuttle reservations to area airports are already open for upcoming student holiday/break travel. Your student can take a look and see if the established schedule meets their needs. Visit the Parking and Transportation Services website for details.

Flu Vaccine at Redfern
Student Health Services is now offering the flu vaccine at Redfern Health Center with no appointment necessary. Encourage your student to get the flu shot now as it takes a couple of weeks to build up immunity. Visit the Student Health Services website to learn more and see flu shot hours.

Roommate Success and Homesickness
College is often the first time students share living space with someone other than family. Having a roommate allows for forming relationships, getting to know others, and at times, navigating differences. Another challenge students face is the adjustment of being away from home. As the semester progresses, students are engaged in campus activities and all that Clemson has to offer. However, sometimes students find themselves missing home a little more. Read more about Roommate Success and Coping with Homesickness, as well as other useful tips, on the Office of Advocacy and Success blog.

Your Student Under the Weather?
Students can make an appointment at Redfern Health Center to see a medical provider, and many over-the-counter medications are available for reduced cost at the Redfern Pharmacy. If your student isn't feeling well, encourage them to stay home, get lots of rest, stay hydrated and wash their hands often.

Unleash Your Inner Tiger
We want to help ensure your student is ready for life after Clemson. CCPD has programs and services to maximize your student's time and efforts for preparing their next steps. Visit the CCPD website to learn more about how your student can Unleash their Inner Tiger.
