Clemson Family,

The cooler weather signaling the end of the semester at Clemson has finally arrived. The recent fall break was a great time for your student to relax and recharge, but the next few weeks are important for them to gauge how much time is left to finish projects, be prepared for final exams and finish strong academically. Have a conversation with your student about their upcoming exams and strategies for time management. The Class of '56 Academic Success Center is open every night until midnight (except Fridays) and group study rooms are available to reserve. Also, the R.M. Cooper Library is usually open 24 hours (Sunday–Thursday).

We are excited Littlejohn Coliseum is back! After an extensive renovation for more than sixteen months, the doors are now open again for Tiger men's and women's basketball. Read more about the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Athletics website.

In anticipation of the upcoming winter break, consider making those local appointments with physicians and dentists for your student while they are home. Having your student back home for an extended break may take some readjusting for families. Remember your student has been living independently, setting their own schedule and preferences. Allow time for all members of the family to readjust and review any expectations you have for them while they are home. Click here to read about more ways to manage any concerns and make the most of your family time from the Office of Advocacy and Success.

The holiday break also provides many students, faculty and staff opportunities to give back to others, especially in the surrounding community. If your student is interested in volunteer opportunities this holiday season, they can visit the Student Leadership and Community Engagement website or stop by their office located in 707 University Union for more information.

Please always consider our office staff as a resource — we are here to help! If you have any questions about Clemson or your student's experience, send us an email at cufamilies@clemson.edu or call the office of New Student and Family Programs at 864-656-0515.

Veterans Donation Drive Update
Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to the Retired Veterans Donation Drive during Family Weekend. Because of your generous donations, we raised over $500 and were able to create 155 individual care packages for retired veterans. We couldn't have done this without your support. Thank you again!

Student Success Week was a Success!
The Class of '56 Academic Success Center (ASC) hosted Student Success Week, Oct. 17–21. There were workshops, lunches and snacks, and an Open House with free t-shirts and travel coffee mugs. The event brought a campuswide focus to services at the ASC. In addition to the many peer-led services, such as tutoring and Peer Assisted Learning (PAL), professional staff also offer academic strategies consultations and academic coaching. Encourage your student to take advantage of these free services available to all Clemson students.

Shuttles for Student Break Travel
Shuttle reservations may still be available for upcoming student holiday/break travel; these shuttles are popular and fill up fast. Your student can take a look and see if the established schedule meets their needs. Visit the Parking and Transportation Services website for details.

Student Health Services
Preparing for final exams can be stressful. Student Health Services provides many resources for managing stress and anxiety. Remind your student to get enough sleep, exercise, eat well and prioritize tasks. To learn more, visit clemson.edu/healthy-campus.

Martin Luther King, Jr. 35th Annual Celebration
The Harvey and Lucinda Gantt Multicultural Center and the MLK Planning Committee announced the 35th Annual Celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with many events and opportunities for engagement within the Clemson community. The Commemorative Service will feature keynote speaker and President of Dillard University, Walter Kimbrough, Ph.D. A university president, researcher, author and renowned expert on fraternities and sororities, Dr. Kimbrough will speak at 6 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2017 in the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts.

Planning Ahead for May Graduation
It's never too early to start planning a visit to Clemson for this special day. The details of graduation will be posted soon, but the general schedule is confirmed: May graduation will take place on campus at Littlejohn Coliseum with four graduation ceremonies May 11–12, 2017.
