  New President and Dean of Students
New Clemson Administration Brings New Ideas.
  Clemson Welcomes New President and New Dean of Students
Clemson welcomed its 15th president, Dr. James P. Clements, on Jan. 1. Clements has a background in computer science and operations analysis and obtained degrees from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and Johns Hopkins University. Prior to coming to Clemson, he served as president for West Virginia University. You can keep up with Dr. Clements by following his blog and on Twitter @ClemsonPrez.

Dr. Shannon M. Finning began as Clemson’s new dean of students in mid-November. Dr. Finning is a 2009 Clemson graduate who earned a Ph.D. in educational leadership. She was most recently dean of Student Affairs at Babson Collegebefore taking the opportunity at Clemson.

Dr. Finning plays an important role in Clemson’s commitment to student care. She directly manages student care and advocacy, Office of Community and Ethical Standards, New Student and Family Programs, Center for Career and Professional Development and Redfern Health Services.

Mark your calendars — April 26 will be the first Explore Adventure: Family Trek program. This is a unique outdoor adventure for Clemson students, parents and families. Clemson’s very own student Trip Leaders will navigate students and family members on an amazing class II-III whitewater rafting trip down the Nantahala River in the mountains of western North Carolina.

The trip includes all transportation, equipment, meals (lunch and dinner) and guarantees a memory to last a lifetime. Join us with or without your student!
