FINANCIAL AID AWARENESS MONTH
February is Financial Aid Awareness Month and the best time to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.gov). The deadline to submit the FAFSA for incoming freshmen is March 1 and the deadline for continuing students is April 1. We encourage you to e-file your taxes early so you can use the IRS data retrieval option (included in the online FAFSA) to complete the income sections. For scholarship consideration, all official test scores (SAT or ACT) must be received by Clemson by March 1. Please encourage your student to participate in Financial Aid Awareness Week from Feb. 16-20. See clemson.edu/financial-aid/news_announcements.html for a schedule of events.

LeadershapeLEADERSHAPE
LeaderShape® is the ultimate leadership experience, providing an intensive week of personal reflection, skill building, networking, communication and challenge. Each May we take approximately 50 to 60 students to the mountains of North Carolina for an amazing experience at no cost to the students. Encourage your student to join us for a week they will never forget! LeaderShape exists to inspire, develop and support people who are committed to lead with integrity. Our program helps students develop a vision for their life and helps them discover the tools needed to achieve that vision. A diverse group of students and faculty are selected to participate in this experience, which creates a space where different ideas can be shared and discussed freely.

Moving Off-CampusMOVING OFF-CAMPUS
Currently, many students are making plans for the summer and the next academic year. For some students, these plans may include living in off-campus housing. Moving off campus marks a pivotal time in the lives of students as they are signing leases, managing budgets and adjusting to new surroundings. If your student is considering living off campus, please visit the Dean of Students office Web page to read 8 Quick Leasing Tips, as well as other pertinent information for off-campus student services. Furthermore, these resources are also available to your student: clemson.edu/administration/student-affairs/dean.

HOUSING & DINING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
University Housing & Dining is currently in the process of constructing two new residential communities: Core Campus and Douthit Hills (images are artistic renderings).

Core Campus
  • Core Campus: The Core Campus Project is a major new addition to Clemson University Campus Life. This 260,000-square-foot mixed-use facility includes student housing, retail and residential dining, and a new home for the Calhoun Honors College. University Housing & Dining is proud to be in full partnership with our Honors College colleagues in expanding our long term, highly successful Living-Learning Community from its current Holmes Hall space and expanding its scope to become Clemson’s first Residential College.
  • Graduation
  • Douthit Hills: Located at the entrance to Clemson University along SC Highway 93, the Douthit Hills Development project will provide approximately 1,730 new student beds and a retail and student amenities facility at its center. Douthit Hills will serve as a mixed-use facility that will include student housing, a residential dining center, bookstore, a new campus recreation center and retail spaces.
Watch our progress live at http://housing.clemson.edu/initiatives/webcams, and for more information about our latest projects visit http://housing.clemson.edu/initiatives.
