Josh Brown, Certified Prof. Recruiter Director of Talent Acquisition Josh Brown is a South Carolina native and has served as Clemson University’s director of talent acquisition since 2017. He began his career as a lead recruiter at Clemson in 2012 and was quickly promoted to talent acquisition manager. In 2005, Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in human resources management from Anderson University and is a certified professional recruiter. Prior to joining Clemson, Josh served as the campus director for ITT Technical Institute’s Greenville, SC campus, where he was re- sponsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Greenville campus. Josh has redefined Clemson’s recruitment, cultivating a culture that includes proactive recruitment of professionals not currently seeking a change in employers. He is working to change the landscape of recruiting in higher education by leveraging social media, applicant tracking systems and a variety of search and referral tools. Josh also leads Clemson’s spousal hire program, TalentSource, which aims to create a consortium of Upstate employers collaborating to provide a holistic approach to hiring dual-income families to South Carolina. Josh and his wife, Courtney, have three active sons. When he isn’t working, Josh loves fishing in tournaments on the lake. His service at Clemson University began in 2014 as the director of HR partners, where he provided HR strategies for seve academic colleges and eleven non-academic divisions. As ACHRO for total rewards, Jim leads the implementation of a contemporary total rewards program while providing guidance to business and division leaders. Comprised of three HR units including benefits and well-be- ing, training and organizational development, and compensation, Jim’s Total Rewards team has significant impacts on improving the University’s talent acquisition and retention efforts. Jim brings three decades of higher education and private industry HR leadership to the role. He is a seasoned HR professional, having spent his career in progressively challenging roles in manufacturing, sales and distribution, and higher education environments. A certified black belt in six sigma and a certified senior professional in human resources (SPHR), Jim was the director of HR services at University of South Florida prior to joining Clemson in 2014. Early in his career, he spent almost a decade managing compensation systems for Whirlpool Corporation’s North American operations where he worked collaboratively with other leaders to link the company’s performance management system to compensation and implemented a compensation plan that resulted in improved retention. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Hiram College. Jim’s wife, Becky, also works at Clemson. When he is not working, Jim enjoys woodworking and visiting his sons.
