Sabbaticals The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) The Sabbatical Leave Program provides an opportunity for you to continue your professional development. Sabbatical leave provides a temporary release from your normal duties so that you can pursue significant projects facilitating your professional growth and development. Apply fo one of two types of sabbatical leave - half pay for two semesters OR full pay for one semester. Clemson University and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provide you with the right to take job-protected leave with continued medical benefits. Should you need to take FMLA leave, you approved leave ensures the following: • Up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave in a calendar year period. • Uninterrupted health care insurance. (The University will continue to pay the employer portion of your health insurance premiums, and you will continue to pay your portion of the insurance premiums.) • Job protection. • Flexibility - take your leave in a single block, smaller blocks of time or on a part-time basis.
