Just over the last four-year reporting period (2013 to 2017), research grant awards increased 40 per- cent to $109 million, despite a plateau in federal investments for research and development in higher education. To continue this momentum, we are investing in new research facilities while expanding and updating our legacy research centers to ensure you will continue to have access to the latest tools. Through our R-Initiative programs, we are investing funds to help you hire research support; to purchase equip- ment; and to pursue large, high-value, multi-disciplinary projects. We have added an online portal to help you identify collaborators and external funding opportunities specific to your expertise. And, w are actively pursuing industry partnerships that will create great institutional and economic impacts. At Clemson, we strive to improve constantly.
