Clemson Families,
Welcome to the start of another exciting academic year at Clemson! I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Kelly Rose, and I have the privilege of serving as this year’s chair for the Clemson Family Advisory Board (CFAB). My husband Ed and I are both proud Clemson graduates and are thrilled our two children have also chosen Tigertown for their college experience.
CFAB works in conjunction with Student Affairs and connects families to campus resources to support students throughout their Clemson journeys. We assist at various events throughout the year, including Orientation, Move-In Day and Family Weekend. We also support Clemson through our letter writing campaign for accepted students and by attending high school fairs. I am thrilled to serve as this year’s chair and would be happy to connect with anyone interested in working with CFAB in the future as a volunteer or board member!
The beginning of the school year brings not only a lot of excitement for you and your student, but also some anxiety. Move-in is just days away, and the reality of your student returning to or starting at Clemson has begun to set in. As students settle into their new environments, Student Affairs is busy launching Kick-Off Clemson. This annual opening week period offers students the opportunity to get involved on campus through different programs, events or services. A full schedule of events is detailed below.
This month carries with it extra excitement as the defending national championship football team prepares to kick off its season in a primetime game on Thursday, Aug. 29, against Georgia Tech. The university will not hold in-classroom instruction and has elected to utilize e-learning resources instead. And while we all enjoy the incredible atmosphere that makes up home football games, we also want to stress to our students the importance of fostering a safe environment. We love celebrating and gathering with the Clemson Family at the Paw each and every game, but let’s do it with our own personal safety and that of those around us in mind. For specific ideas on how to talk with your student about reducing risks, visit some of the educational resources available through Healthy Campus.
Whether your student is an incoming freshman or rising senior, they are transforming into an adult within a campus and community that supports them. The Clemson Experience is enhanced by student involvement, academic challenges and personal interactions, and we know family encouragement can have a positive impact. Please remind your student of the wealth of resources available to them for every step of the college journey.
I hope your student has a wonderful start to the fall semester, and you all enjoy being a part of the Clemson Family! It’s a great time to be a Tiger!
Sincerely,
VP Almeda Jacks

Getting Started
Getting Started
With classes set to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 21, please urge your student to pay attention to a few friendly reminders at the beginning of the academic year. First, all students must satisfy university fees by paying the balance of their tuition bill through iROAR. The last day to register or add a class is Tuesday, Aug. 27. Make sure your student is familiar with the academic calendar for the fall semester. Finally, your student’s immunization records should have already been provided to Student Health Services. Please contact Redfern Health Center as soon as possible if your student has yet to fulfill Clemson’s medical clearance requirements.
Move-In Schedule
Move-In Schedule
While some students will need to arrive at Clemson sooner than others, Aug. 16-18 has been designated as Move-In Weekend for the bulk of students living on campus. Be sure and check the schedule based on your student’s housing assignment for the academic year. If you have not already done so, make an appointment to ensure a smooth drop-off experience. If your student is living off campus, make sure they are aware of these helpful resources provided by the Office of Advocacy and Success. It has been a busy summer on campus, so please visit our interactive facilities map for the latest updates on areas impacted by construction and resulting alternate traffic routes.

Kick-Off Clemson
Kick-Off Clemson
Kick-Off Clemson is an annual week consisting of activities and events designed to acclimate your student to the new academic year. Convocation, aimed for first-year students, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, in Littlejohn Coliseum. The following day, the President’s Picnic will take place in a new home this year at 11:45 a.m., also in the coliseum. After the picnic and new student class photo — which takes place at midfield of Memorial Stadium — representatives from more than 500 clubs and organizations will be on site in the stadium concourse for TigerProwl. A full schedule of events from Kick-Off Clemson is available for your student.
Fall Family Weekend
Fall Family Weekend
If you don’t want to wait until fall break or the holidays to see your student, we hope you consider returning to campus Sept. 20-22 to take part in the fun of Fall Family Weekend. Presented by Wells Fargo, this annual weekend always offers a full slate of activities and 2019 is no different, highlighted by the Tiger football game against Charlotte on Saturday, Sept. 21. Check ClemsonTigers.com for football ticket availability. Make sure to register online and view our guidebook for assistance on all your Fall Family Weekend needs. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus to visit your student and experience everything Clemson has to offer.

Measles Preparedness
Measles Preparedness
Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) officials are working with Clemson administrators to educate students on how to take appropriate preventive measures related to health and wellness. DHEC shared reports of more than 1,100 cases of measles across 30 states so far in 2019. While zero cases have yet to be confirmed in the state of South Carolina so far in 2019, any individuals identified as exposed will be required to show proof of immunity. Please note the university’s average immunity level among students exceeded 99 percent in the 2018-19 academic year. Read the university’s measles update for more information and frequently asked questions.
Breaking Ground on Samuel J. Cadden Chapel
Preparing for Move Out – Tips from a Resident Assistant
University officials joined alumni, donors and student leaders past and present in a groundbreaking ceremony on May 23 for Samuel J. Cadden Chapel. Named in memory of a Clemson student who passed away unexpectedly in 2015, the chapel will be located adjacent to the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts and be an inviting venue for all people to celebrate, meditate and reflect.
