Administrative interns work alongside the CB+D managers to help with customer service and administrative tasks. The student will assist with client communication, job quotes, billing issues and problem solving, calendar and schedule updates, event logistics, budget and activity reports, and project management database updates.
Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent computer skills (competent in both Mac and PC platforms and Microsoft Office programs), the ability to work with limited supervision, the ability to lead effectively and a strong attention to detail.
Architect interns assist with maintaining 3D-printing machines and help print 3D products to be sold on the Clemson Marketplace and for projects for the Division of Student Affairs and its departments. In addition, they use Rhino, CAD, Illustrator and other applicable software to create renderings and illustrations of campus projects and buildings. They also assist with maintenance of the Clemson University campus map.
Applicants should have experience with 3D-rendering software; experience with Adobe products, especially Illustrator and Photoshop; a high level of self-motivation and organization; the ability to work with limited supervision; and a strong attention to detail. They should also be enrolled in architecture or a similar program at Clemson.
Graphic design interns work directly with real-world clients from the start to the completion of projects, helping create, print and finish content that is used and displayed on- and off-campus. They develop creative solutions to meet customer needs; design illustrations and layouts; edit photographs; prepare files for printing on small- or large-format digital printers; collaborate with team members; and finish products by cutting, mounting, laminating, magnetizing, hemming and grommeting.
Applicants should have experience with graphic design; proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; the ability to conduct operations analysis to properly design to meet customers’ needs; creativity and originality in design; problem-solving skills; and (preferred) major in graphic communications or a similar field.
Marketing interns develop and execute strategic marketing efforts for CB+D. During the internship, the student will follow the CB+D Marketing Plan to implement campaigns; interpret collected data and utilize findings to continue and/or alter campaigns; determine ROI of campaigns; develop plans for bringing in new business; update the CB+D website and monitor the site’s performance; monitor the performance of CB+D in search engines and implement SEO strategies; and develop and maintain a customer information database and email list.
Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to apply techniques and topics learned within the classroom to real-world work scenarios; excellent computer skills — knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; the ability to work cooperatively with clients and team; the ability to lead effectively; the ability to work with limited supervision; and enrollment in marketing degree program or other related field.
Photography interns capture pictures of places and/or events for use in division- and department-level communication, including print pieces, emails, websites and social media. They attend and photograph events such as Greek Week, career fairs and intramural sports; take headshots for divisional and departmental employees and interns; practice various photo correction and file prep techniques; gain experience and skill with various photo editing software, including Adobe Photoshop; and organize, keyword, rate and upload pictures onto photo archives.
Applicants should have moderate knowledge of photography, moderate experience in photography, a high level of self-motivation and organization, a strong attention to detail and the ability to work with limited supervision.
Social media interns help maintain Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube pages for the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Banner and Design (CB+D). Students collaborate with the social media team to brainstorm content ideas; write and edit copy; work with photography and/or videography interns to gather photo and/or video content at events; create, edit and prepare content for publication; keep tabs on social media trends; and assist with tracking and reviewing social media analytics.
Applicants should have experience creating content for and posting on social media; excellent communication, writing and grammar skills; experience with Microsoft Office; experience with social media analytics (preferred); knowledge of AP Style (preferred); experience with the Adobe Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign (preferred); photography and/or videography knowledge and experience (bonus); experience with social media management platforms (bonus); experience with and knowledge of Student Affairs programs and services (preferred); and enrollment in a communications program or related major (preferred).
Videography interns serve as the storytellers of Clemson University. From creating and editing short videos to producing longer features, the videographers will showcase the Clemson Experience. Students film events, interviews, features and more with different types of cameras; edit videos for multiple platforms using Adobe Premiere; collaborate with social media interns to develop creative ways to showcase Students Affairs’ impact; work with departments on campus to cover events and create division-level communication pieces; and see video production from start to finish, including client relations and presentation.
Applicants should have experience filming and editing videos; proficiency in Adobe Premiere; experience with Adobe After Effects (bonus); the ability to collaborate and work with different types of clients; a strong attention to detail; and the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations.
Web development interns assist with managing the online presence of CB+D and the Division of Student Affairs and its departments. During this internship, students will build and maintain pages and sites for Student Affairs using the university CMS; build and maintain pages for the CB+D website; administer the in-house file server; add functionality to websites or web applications using scripting languages; and track CB+D marketing effectiveness using analytics software.
Applicants should have experience with operating systems (Windows, OS X, Linux); experience with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks (jQuery, MooTools or similar); familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or other photo manipulation software; familiarity with using a scripting language (PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby or similar); familiarity with relational databases (MySQL or similar); self-motivation and excellent organization; the ability to work with limited supervision; and enrollment in a computer science degree program or other related field.
Campus Banner + Design (CB+D) seeks a writing and editing intern, who will also work closely with the Student Affairs Publications staff. Interns will assist with writing and editing (using AP style) various communication pieces: division-level communication, such as quarterly division updates and an annual communication plan; department-level communications, such as orientation materials and career fair advertisements; e-newsletters sent to Clemson students, staff and parents; various jobs for CB+D for university and Clemson-area clients; and social media posts for division-level and CB+D social media accounts. In addition, they will help brainstorm content ideas for division-level social media accounts, track analytics for e-newsletter campaigns and track media coverage of the division and its departments.
