STUDENT AFFAIRS
PRESENTED TO:
BOARD OF TRUSTEES — FEBRUARY 2018
No one can ever take away your Clemson Experience, but this ring is a tangible representation of it. No matter
where I am a year from now, I will always be a part of the Clemson Family.
Working with Student Affairs has
taken my experience and made it that much better
, because the staff is just incredible.

Lucy Stevens, senior
With the spring semester well underway, I can’t help but look forward to the excitement 2018 promises to bring for Clemson
University and the Division of Student Affairs. There are many changes taking place on campus and even more to come as our
institution continues to grow and solidify its place among the very best in higher education.
Much of the excitement comes from the opening of Douthit Hills this fall. We expect an
increase of about 1,200 students living on campus because of this addition. Douthit
will include not only residential space for continuing and new students, but also space
dedicated to recreation and dining facilities. Another exciting project to come this fall is
at the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Center, where we are thrilled to add to
our intramural and club sports program with a second turf field. Work will also begin this
year on a brand-new facility for our Clemson Outdoor Recreation and Education (CORE)
program. Our development team has been hard at work raising funds not only for the Snow
Center, but also the Samuel J. Cadden Chapel, which will provide a gathering space for
students of all beliefs. Both will greatly enhance the Clemson Experience for our students.
As we head further into the semester, Student Affairs is continuing to implement a division-wide strategic plan in support
of ClemsonForward and the university’s top-20 goal. The strategic plan allows Student Affairs to better align budgeted, facility
and staff resources as we aim to support the priorities that define today’s Clemson.
